The International Cooperation Department of the NSCMB FEB RAS has summed up the results of cooperation with the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). As we remember, the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin paid a state visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on June 19–20, 2024. The year of this visit marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Basic Principles of Friendly Relations between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Russian Federation (of June 16, 1994). In a warm atmosphere, the sides held an in-depth exchange of views on a wide range of topical issues and areas of Russian–Vietnamese relations, including scientific, technological and humanitarian ones.
On June 20–21, 2024, the Soonchunhyang University, Asan, Republic of Korea, hosted an annual conference of the Malacological Society of Korea (MSK) and an anniversary event to celebrate 40 years of the Society
For Russian Far Eastern malacologists, maintaining contacts with the MSK and Korean malacologists is an important part of regional scientific relations.
Igor Yu. Dolmatov, the NSCMB FEB RAS Director, Corresponding Member of RAS, approved the annual report of the International Cooperation Department (ICD), jointly prepared with the ICD of the scientific and educational center "Primorsky Aquarium", a branch of the NSCMB FEB RAS.
According to this report, in 2023, the Center’s international relationships were supported based on 43 active agreements with nine countries (People's Republic of China, Republic of Korea, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Japan, United States of America, Federal Republic of Germany, Belgium, Republic of India and Philippines). Three international projects and programs (with Chinese and Vietnamese scientists) were also worked on.
In April 2023 the NSCMB FEB RAS International cooperation department initiated correspondence with Institute of Deep-Sea Science and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sanya (IDSSE CAS). A fruitful online meeting was held in September 2023, at which the issues of the deep-sea research and possibilities for collaborative research on the biodiversity of the Pacific Northwest were discussed. As a result, on December 22, 2023, the Memorandum of Understanding and the Agreement on joint marine expeditions between IDSSE CAS and NSCMB FEB RAS were signed.
During the online meeting, an agreement was reached on a joint cruise planned for summer 2024. At this time, the negotiations have an active status, and the upcoming cruise details are being discussed. In this regard, in March 2024 Igor Yu. Dolmatov, the NSCMB FEB RAS Director, Corresponding Member of RAS, Dr. Vladimir V. Mordukhovich, the Deputy Director for Science, and Dr. Konstantin A. Lutaenko, the Deputy Director for International Cooperation, are planning to make an official visit to Institute of Deep-Sea Science and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hainan Island, Sanya, China.
The joint cruise will become an important step for both sides in the long-term and mutually beneficial scientific cooperation, and the Memorandum and Agreement signing is just the beginning of a new stage in the relationship between NSCMB FEB RAS and IDSSE CAS.
A.V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology Far Eastern Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences (NSCMB FEB RAS) has taken part in the "China-Russian Symposium on Conservation and Sustainable Utilization of the Fisheries Resources in the Sino-Russian Far East Area" in Dalian, People’s Republic of China.
The Symposium is focused on actual problems arising under the conditions of global climate change in the Far Eastern Region. The event is organized by Dalian Ocean University. In April, 2023 the NSCMB FEB RAS and Dalian Ocean University signed a Memorandum on scientific cooperation for five years with the further auto prolongation.
The first part of the Symposium begins with Dr. S.I. Maslennikov’s presentation, the Head of the Center for Aquaculture and Coastal Bioresources in the NSCMB FEB RAS.
There are the NSCMB FEB RAS online participants with their talks: the NSCMB FEB RAS Director, the RAS Corresponding Member I.Yu. Dolmatov with the presentation "Sea cucumbers as a source of biologically active substances"; Scientific Head of Laboratory of Comparative Cytology, Dr. Marina G. Eliseikina with "The new bacilliform virus that causes milky hemolymph syndrome in Chinoecetes bairdi (Rathbun, 1924)"; Deputy Director for Science Dr. Tatyana Yu. Orlova with the lecture "Environmental change and its adverse effects on marine microorganisms-risks to food safety in East Asia".
From the 20th to 29th of October, 2023 Shenzhen MSU-BIT University has organized the second "NAUKA 0+" Science and Culture Festival, Shenzhen, China.
In connection with termination of the Memorandum on cooperation between A.V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology, (NSCMB FEB RAS) and the South China Sea Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (SCSIO CAS), appointment of the new Director of the Center, and on invitation of the SCSIO CAS management, delegation of the NSCMB FEB RAS on the 20th – 23rd of October visited SCSIO in Guangzhou (China, Guangdong Province). The delegation included: the Scientific Supervisor of the Center (President), Academician of RAS Andrey Vladimirovich Adrianov; Director of the Center, Corr. Member of RAS Igor Yuryevich Dolmatov; Deputy Director for Science, PhD. Tatyana Yuryevna Orlova; and Deputy Director for International Cooperation, PhD. Konstantin Anatolyevich Lutaenko.
